A 100-foot waterfall marks the entrance to THE REPUBLIC

Mountain Professionals, Inc. is developing THE REPUBLIC, forty -six acres of prime building sites and luxurious homes inside the city limits of Bakersville.

The development will have 24-foot wide paved streets, street lighting, and city fire and police protection.

Houses are built an 3/4+ acre lots (or more) and there are building covenats and restrictions enacted by the Board of Directors in THE REPUBLIC (for example, size, building materials, no modular homes, no house trailers, and no vinyl siding).

We will build your house for you (plans must be pre-approved by the board), or you may purchase one of our already built houses.

THE REPUBLIC is an ideal community within the city limits of Bakersville, the county seat of Mitchell County. THE REPUBLIC is ideal for the retirement home, mountain getaway, a second home, or a home away from the problems brought on by unplanned communities, urban sprawl, and lack of zoning. Its spectular views of the mountains, quiet and peaceful lifestyle, and community activities make for quality of life unsurpassed practically anywhere in America.

Work has been recently conmpleted on a one-acre pond located near the center of the forty-six acres. It will be landscaped with picnic and recreation areas, and the ten-foot deep fresh-water pond (referred to as "The Lake") will be stocked with several species of fish--bass, mountain trout, and crappie among others. A 75-foot pier extends onto The Lake for rowing, canoeing, paddle-wheeling, and fishing.

The majestic views of the surrounding mountains (The Roan, The Pizzle, Punkin' Patch, Lick Ridge, White Oak, and The Hawk, among others) make THE REPUBLIC among the most aesthetically pleasing locations in Western North Carolina.

The natural beauty is complimented by the arts of the region. Bakersville and the surrounding area are generally recognized as among the top art communities of the nation.

The Creek Walk, a perfect place for walking for exercise or for a leisurely stroll, is adjacent to Cane Creek which meanders through Bakersville. The stream is also a "catch-and-release" trout stream.
